Medicare Coverage for Addiction Treatment in NJ
Medicare covers medically necessary detox and a growing set of addiction treatment services. Coverage expanded significantly under the 2020 rule adding Opioid Treatment Programs as a covered benefit.
Coverage overview
Part A covers inpatient detox and rehab in a hospital setting. Part B covers outpatient services, PHP, IOP, and Opioid Treatment Programs. Medicare Advantage plans must offer at least equivalent benefits.
